('North Of Hollywood Rd').
N.B: NOHO is not the official name of the area we are in, it is kinda like a nickname us locals use to refer to it.

VOLUME is owned and managed by Joseph Chan (a local Hong Konger) and Evan Steer aka DJ Stonedog (an Australian). Our head bar tender is Dennis. DRESS CODE: Casual to OTT fierce hipster. No open toed shoes on weekends permitted.
We are open Monday-Sunday from 7pm until late.
HAPPY HOUR is every night 7-10pm.
Each Wednesday we run a special promotion- perfect for visitors to our city called "NEW ARRIVALS WEDNESDAYS" where we serve up FREE VODKA 7-9:30pm. For full details, check out the NEW ARRIVALS WEDNESDAYS event page on our site HERE.
The crowd is predominantly trend-setting gay men in their 20's-30's, about a 50/50 mix of locals and foreigners however our doors are open to welcome all- gays, straights, lesbians, bisexuals, transgender, tourists and the mature folks in our community. And yes, our staff are fluent in both the local Cantonese and English.
The venue is located almost in the middle of 2 MTR stations (about 10 mins walk from each: SHEUNG WAN STATION and CENTRAL STATION). Both are on the BLUE MTR line although Central also features on the RED MTR line.
Print out and use this map to guide you (Mark the CNR of HOLLYWOOD RD and ABERDEEN ST as your destination):
FROM SHEUNG WAN STATION (take exit E2).
After exiting the station on street level, head through the Grand Millenium Plaza across the street and up to Queens Rd Central. At the intersection there, head up Wellington St (the one-way street on the left BEHIND Queens Rd main road), walk a few short meters and you'll see Aberdeen St on your right beside the 7-11. Walk uphill 'till you reach Hollywood Rd (you'll see the back entrance of our venue as you make your way up the stair footpath), take a right on Hollywood Rd and the first right again is MEE LUN ST (a staired terrace pedestrian-only laneway heading down). You'll find the main entrance to VOLUME here.
From CENTRAL STATION (take exit D2):
After exiting the station, you'll find yourself in a bustling alleyway, take a right and you'll come to a plaza. Turn left and you'll be on Central's main strip: QUENES RD. Cross the street at the pedestrian crossing and turn right and follow Queens Rd until you see and overhead pedestrian bridge. This is the CENTRAL MID-LEVELS ESCALATOR. To access it, take the small escalator on the left (it is just past the Wellcome Supermarket) and you'll see a trail of people making their way up the escalator. Ride the escalator up to LYNDHURST TERRACE/HOLLYWOOD RD exit and make your way down the stairs.
On street level you'll have PIZZA EXPRESS on your left and a health food store AMERICAN NUTRITION on your right (if you have time drop in and say Hi to lovely Anna and pick up some protein bars if you feel like it!). Make your way on the footpath along LYNDHURST TERRACE past AMERICAN NUTRITION, HSBC bank (this is the closest cash point ATM to our venue- we advise you refill your wallet here) and you'll quickly come to an intersection with PACIFIC COFFEE and G.O.D across the street. Make your way right, past the antique stores along Hollywood Rd (stay on the right hand side of the street) and walk a few meters (you;ll feel like you are making your way into a residential area- this is NOHO district) until you get to the steep sloping ABERDEEN ST. You'll see the back entrance of VOLUME in all it's yellow & purple walled fabulousness across the street. Cross over ABERDEEN ST. Continue along HOLLYWOOD RD and the first right again is MEE LUN ST (a staircase terrace pedestrian-only laneway heading down). You'll find the main entrance to VOLUME here.
Again, you can refer to the same map linked above.
"2007 Readers Choice Awards: BEST GAY HANGOUT: VOLUME. This snazzy little house-playing, gay bar beat out last year’s gay fave Propaganda, most probably due in large part to resident DJ Stonedog’s “Hyper Handbag” Saturdays with all that’s kitschy, hard and pumping (no pun intended).
Then there are the gallons of booze they’re giving away on a weekly basis: 2-for-1 drinks with free snacks every day (7pm-10pm) and 2.5 hours of free vodka every Wed (7-9:30pm). Wednesdays are also “New Arrivals” night - gay flight crews, tourists, business travelers, and the locals who perv on them - while Fridays are Hong Kong’s longest gay happy hour (7pm-10pm).
Free entry, 2-for-1 drinks and the cheesiest in 80s pop."

"Opened in late 2006, the gay video lounge Volume is a must on the gay nightlife circuit. It's a sleek, modern space with colourful and cushy lounge seating, and DJs spin some of the best music in the city".
- RAINBOWNETWORK.COM
"As for HK’s buzzing gay nightlife, lesbians should definitely catch the monthly party Les Peches (e-mail lespechesinfo@yahoo.com for when and wheres) and boys visit current hotspot Volume".
- FRONTIERPUBLISHING.COM
"Not many places party like this gay bar. If you're looking for a place that goes hard almost every night, you need look no further. The resident DJs spin up a massive variety of tracks all week long, from 80's pop to floor-to-ceiling house, with the bar helping the party along with some crazy nightly offers like Wednesday's 'free vodka before 9:30pm'. Of course it might not be everyone's cup of tea, but as far as partying bars go, there are few that can turn it up like VOLUME"

"The hottest gay bar/club in HK these days with plenty of special events, performances, and… er, other good stuff. ‘Nuff said!"
- TRIPOUT GAY TRAVEL.COM
"Arguably Hong Kong’s hippest gay club, Volume attracts a mix of locals, expats and tourists all dressed to kill. Their Wednesday night welcome mixer is specifically aimed at visitors to the city, with free vodka for everyone from 7pm – 9:30pm. Volume is a big hitter in the DJ department and manages to pull in its share of top draw names playing an eclectic mix of everything from trance to top of the pops hits from the eighties".
- ABOUT.COM
"Aberdeen side entrance is sometimes closed in which case enter at the back side of the club on the hillside staircase. This late night and after-hours cocktail and music venue has a nice mix of gay locals, ex-pats and visitors. Long J-shaped bar with table and couch seating around the space, VIP nook and even a small performance/dance area. Flashy kitch decor accents set the fun dial on high. Well-placed mirrors for preening and cruising. Beats range from drum and bass, to electro, uplifting trance, hard house, progressive house and occasional lashings of high camp mash-ups of 80s hits. Volume pumps up the latest tracks from around the globe".
- UTOPIA-ASIA.COM
"Opened Nov 2006 and "unsuprisingly became a huge success." They consider themselves to run an "Ultra hip gay bar for a predominantly gay male crowd- though some lesbians hang out there." A very nice bar with good music and friendly staff. Highly recommended".
- SQZM14.UST.HK
"It’s a shockingly purple, flashy and kitschy, yet cozy escape from patriarchal culture. Well-placed mirrors are perfect for preening, and the long bar’s great for after-hour cocktails and cruising. Volume pumps it up as a late-night hotspot with diva dance tunes, camp 80s mash-ups and Happy House. Two years old now, the boite’s still going strong and definitely earning its place as a gay mainstay in Hong Kong, courtesy of their highly popular and scandalously fun “New Arrival Wednesdays,“ which means free vodka before 9:30pm"
- HKMAGAZINE.COM
"This hip queer club in the up-and-coming arts district of NoHo presents a nice mix of gay locals, ex-pats, and visitors who are everything from businessmen to flight attendants. A trendy vibe permeates along with a revolving professional DJ roster to keep the beats going, spinning Latin, trance, and high camp mash-ups of ‘80s hits. It's a good place for pre-dinner drinks or post-dinner dancing".
- VACATION.AWAY.COM
"A relaxing place located at Hollywood Road just above Noho where a lot of gay guys hang out for a chill night out during the week or getting prepared to hit “the club” (Propaganda) during weekends. It is especially popular on Wednesday for its free vodka drinks from 7-9:30 pm, dragging loads of pretty boys hanging out at the stairs outside the club. Volume also plays all kind of music besides the generic R&B/hip hop/house, from its signature electronic to 80s dance to even Danish gay pops, at times with complimentary music videos projected on a big screen next to the animal-painted sofas".
- HIPHONGKONG.COM
"You should try Volume out. It's one of the better gay bars in Hong Kong (esp on a Sat night)".
- FLYERTALK.COM
"This spacious club is the epitome of Hong Kong chic. The strip lighting around the bar and colourful yet classy décor gives it an exciting and yet comfortable atmosphere, and the variety of music has something for everyone. As expected, there is the usual electro, techno, house and reworked 80s hits, but also hip-hop, latin and soul for a smoother aural experience. It’s also the ultimate place for gay travellers to meet and mingle due to the many offers and special nights. Every night from 7-10pm is happy hour, with two-for-one drinks offers, free entry and music videos to draw in the crowds. Every Wednesday, Volume holds a party night to welcome gay travellers, with a different (but always ultra-camp) theme every week and free vodka before 9.30pm"
- GAYPEDIA.COM
